The Mark Chronicles....Chapter Two: Our Anniversary

I have been given a truly wonderful gift! I have had the privilege of meeting, dating, and marrying the most wonderful man in the world! Today marks the seventh anniversary of our wedding covenant. I choose that word because it most perfectly describes what I feel our marriage is all about. It is as Jesus described: [Genesis 1:27], ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ [Genesis 2:24]. So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” Mark is such a fine man, complete husband and father. I can't even emagine having a more fulfilled life than the one I live right now. True, our marrage has had it's share of hills and valleys BUT the covenant has always held fast. It's been a strong foundation on which everything else is built! I think that I am just scratching the surface of what so many of my elder couples have known about marriage for years which is: If the foundation that you have built is strong...focused in the center of God's will...everything else can be fixed!

When we renewed our vows, as we do each year, the pastor read this scripture: Love is patient. Love is kind. Love isn't jealous. It doesn't sing its own praises. It isn't arrogant. It isn't rude. It doesn't think about itself. It isn't irritable. It doesn't keep track of wrongs. It isn't happy when injustice is done, but it is happy with the truth. Love never stops being patient, never stops believing, never stops hoping, never gives up. As I reflected on these verses, I realized that THIS IS the kind of man that I have married. He reflects the very nature of God's love each and every day through countless ways. Yes! I have been and will continue to be, for many years Lord willing, blessed with THE most wonderful husband and father. My only regret is that I can't truly express, through this writing, how endowed I truly am.

Happy Anniversary my sweetness, I love you!

Lynn (& Mark) -

Happy Anniversary! We will be celebrating our 17th anniversary in two weeks, Lord willing.

When we were married, we had I Cor. 13 read at our wedding and that is the way we live, too. We had it printed up on pretty vellum and passed it out to each guest as they came in. I LOVE the love chapter and have a husband who exhibits it, too, much better than I ever could.

Much love to you both!

Congratulations!

Marriage is work everyday, but fun work when you have that covenant that you spoke about. It saddens me to see so many go into marriage with the idea of "it's no big deal if it doesn't work, we'll just split up." They go in with no covenant made and then complain when it is too hard.

The covenant gives direction, boundaries and hope in the dark of night!

Take care and enjoy that man!
