If I'd known.....I'd have been kissing lizards long before now!!

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS SHE TALKING ABOUT??!! I'll bet your asking yourself that question right now!

Well let me explain. Want a prince...kiss a frog! Want help for Insulin Resistance...kiss a lizard.

I have been diagnosed with type two diabetes in the form of insulin resistance and my liver constantly deciding to make sugar whether I need it or not....this has led to pesky weight that I can't seem to loose as well as some other minor problems with blood sugar and cholesterol. Twenty years ago, they would not even considered this to be diabetes. Now, early intervention can hopefully keep me from developing an insulin regimen that I would have to follow.

I am beginning a injection drug called Byetta which is derived from lizard saliva and is not insulin but can be taken in conjunction with insulin if necessary. As of now, I am using a cholesterol diet to treat both the elevated cholesterol as well as the diabetes. Hopefully, I won't have to take cholesterol medication or insulin if I am lucky. She seems hopeful as my blood work is very positive in every other respect! Oh yea, the best part is that Byetta and weight loss are synonymous so YEA!!!! I can get svelte again! It's a win win situation all around!

NO! I haven't kissed any lizards yet and now; hopefully, I won't have to start!

Diabetes likes your family!?!

So sorry to hear Dee is in the hospital and hope she is doing better.

Take care of yourself. I have weight issues and would love to believe that taking something would get rid of it, but I don't want health issues. I don't have high cholesterol since I take Niacin every day and I don't have pre-diabetes or any other problems. I am thankful for that.

Good to take care of these things while you are young. I am determined to only take what is absolutely necessary as I believe too many doctors give too many medications as the cure-all. We have to take our health into our own hands and be ever watchful.

Sorry for the soap box. I am dealing with health issues with my folks and doctors not being attentive! Comes through, huh?

Again, take care of yourself! Your babies need you!
